About the Rotary Club of Canberra City
We are a diverse group of Canberrans and have members from as far afield as Googong and Wamboin in regional New South Wales.
We hold several prominent events on the Canberra calendar each year - the Spring and Autumn Antiques and Collectibles Fairs and the annual Canberra CareersXPo - with proceeds going towards local community charity organisations. We support other local, national and international projects and if you would like to know more, view our 2015-16 Annual Report and other pages for 2016-17 projects. We support projects to end poverty, spread education and health and provide opportunities for those who would otherwise go without.
We take our Rotary motto seriously: “Service above Self”.
A Brief History
The Rotary Club of Canberra City was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Canberra and was admitted to Rotary International on 31 March 1975.
Our Club was the first Club in the world to be chartered under a change in Rotary International Rules, which permitted Clubs to share identical territories.
Initial membership was 22 and currently it is over 40.
The detailed history of our Club in respect of our first 30 years has been printed in booklet form and has been distributed to all our members. It is our intention to add to this history and publish an up-to-date version in the future.
